Yes, very much so. Using prefilled syringes achieves one of the top goals of sustainability – ‘Reduce’. A plastic syringe is still used, but the glass or plastic ampoule, needle, label, swabs and packaging are no longer required. The ‘safety dividend’ of reduced harm and potential ICU care from using prefilled syringes also reduces environmental damage. This is quite a substantial improvement.
