What is SALG doing to address the problems that we are facing in obtaining prefilled syringes of anaesthetic drugs?
SALG recognises that departments of anaesthesia and pharmacies face issues obtaining a reliable supply of prefilled syringes of many anaesthetic medications. We are therefore engaging closely with Specialist Pharmacy Services (SPS) and NHS England to try and improve this situation. We hope that increased demand for the prefilled versions of these drugs will drive an increased supply but recognise that this process will take time and require strong engagement between anaesthetists, our pharmacy colleagues and industry to achieve.
